She has been in two girl groups
Beginning her career at just seventeen years old, Kim Do-yeon was a finalist on a reality girl group survivor series Produce 101. Alongside ten other group members, their success on the show resulted in the formation of I.O.I. in 2016. A year later, Kim joined Weki Meki, the second girl group of her musical career. She sang amongst the Picky Picky performers for seven years. Now, Do-yeon has dived into her solo career remaining grateful for her past group members, including bestie and ex-bandmate, Choi Yoo-daeng.
She has her own blog
Blurred train selfies, on-the-go mirror pictures, and candid moments with friends make up just a glimpse of the memories shared on Do-yeon’s Naver blog. Perhaps it’s her reality show roots that inspire her raw honesty—she shares her day-to-day wins and setbacks with her fans, from post-worthy meals and favourite songs to braving aggressive rainstorms and reflecting on the challenges of 2024. Through the highs and lows, the singer and actress isn’t afraid to let her fans in, showing a side of herself that’s refreshingly real and relatable.
She is a cinephile

From Italy to America to Korea, Do-yeon’s taste in film knows no borders—when she’s not starring in them, she’s certainly watching them. The actress often shares her love for cinema on social media, previously highlighting the Chalamet-led Bones and All and the Italian comedy La Chimera by Alice Rohrwacher. Her passion for film shines through in her posts, frequently featuring significant quotes, striking shots, and personal reflections, especially on her Letterboxd-inspired platforms.
She returned to school in London

In late 2024, the former Weki Meki member relocated to London to further her education. In an Instagram post from November 2024, she shared her newfound love for starting mornings with her residence hall’s coffee and lemon muffins, even documenting her transformation into a coffee drinker. Balancing scripts and set appearances, acting remained central to her time in the Big Smoke. In an interview from her early career, she noted, “Going to school with friends, having lunch, and studying at night—the little things in school life will never come back again if not now.”
She is exploring musical theatre
Combining her talents, Do-yeon made her musical theatre debut in 2024 with Anna X. Despite her experience with live stage performances, she admitted that telling Anna Sorkin’s story was nerve-wracking. The two-person play required both her and her co-star to deliver lines for 100 consecutive minutes each night. Safe to say, she broke a leg, with a return to the live stage in White Rabbit Red Rabbit, a unique production with no director, no rehearsals, and no pre-read script.
She is a YSL girl
Sporting sharp suit jackets or wrapped in dark mesh tights and slingbacks, Do-yeon and YSL pair beautifully. Down to the details, Kim’s current phone case is from the French brand along with her growing collection of bags, including the 5 à 7 and the Jamie 4.3 from grained leather styles to crochet. Both sleek and elegant, YSL and Kim Do-yeon blend like a dream, bringing out the best in each other with their long list of chic collaborations.
