Reshaping the way we interact on social networking platforms, Bumble, most commonly known as the women-first dating app, has branched out with a new professional networking model dubbed Bumble Bizz, which aims to bridge the gender gap in the workspace by helping women make connections and create opportunities.

To celebrate its launch in Hong Kong, Bumble Bizz hosted an intimate family-style dinner at Soho House Hong Kong, inviting 15 inspiring women including the likes of fashion designer Vivienne Tam, Feng Shui designer Thierry Chow, Edit co-founders and designers Jacqueline Chak and Genevieve Chew, The Woods founder Victoria Chow, Movers & Cashmere founder Leslie Tsang, Apinara founder Pearl Shek, and EcoDrive founder Yolanda Choy-Tang.

“The idea for Bizz was actually developed after [Bumble founder and CEO] Whitney Wolfe Herd hired someone that she met on Bumble BFF [Bumble’s friend-finding platform], and realised how our platform could be extended to enable professional networking opportunities,” says Michelle Battersby, Bumble Associate Marketing Director APAC.

“The beauty of Bumble Bizz is that it doesn’t matter if they are older, younger, from a different industry or at a different level to you. Everyone on the platform is there with a shared purpose of networking, so it creates real opportunities for authentic connections.”

Bumble Bizz instantly connects users through geo-targeting and enables them to swipe through people around them looking to network, find a mentor, be a mentor, hire, be hired, or anywhere in between. Beyond profile photos, Bumble Bizz profiles also include a digital resume in addition to a skills section showcasing the users’ talents and accolades. Users can also include examples of their work in additional profile cards.
